The river Chilik is the biggest river of the Zailiisk Alatau (northern Tian-Shan). The Chilik is a typical mountain river with a rough current. Rapids 4+ class are in the canyons Upper, Blue, and Bartogaisk.
Shooting the rapids will give quite a few exciting moments. The gorgeous mountain landscapes of Tian-Shan and the excursion to the river Charyn canyon will be an added bonus.
Itinerary:
Day 1 Arrival Almaty. Transportation to the Pass Amanzhola (6 hours). Overnight in tents.
Day 2 Trekking to the river Chilik. Equipment is horse-drawn.
Day 3 Rafting to the river Maibulak and over Upper Canyon.
Day 4 Rafting as far as the settlement of Saty.
Day 5 Transportation over the river Chilik to Lake Kolsai. Camp. Walking to the lake.
Day 6 Rafting to the settlement of Zhanatalap.
Day 7 Rafting in the Blue Canyon. Take-out by the Bartogaisk Reservoir.
Day 8 Skirting the reservoir, trekking the Bartogaisk canyon. Moving to the river Charyn canyon. Dinner and night in the canyon.
Day 9 Departure for Almaty. Hotel. Sightseeing.
Day 10 Flight to Moscow.
Cost: 1100 EURO + travel expenses to Almaty and back (min. 6 pax).
Payment: Deposit 100 EURO, final payment 30 days prior to departure.
